BOATING

Boats can generally be found for hire on an hourly or daily basis in Mattupatty dam and in the town boating is arranged by D.T.P.C. The area has no end of waterways from rivers and streams to large lakes. Row boats and canoes are among the main options available to cruise the waterways. Mattuputty lake and dam is one of the most picturesque spots with the best boating options for visitors. Boating rates in munnar by the D.T.P.C is for Rowboat-Rs. 30/ person per hour Motorboat-Rs. 180 for 9 persons for 30 min Pedalboat- Rs. 40 for 2 seater and Rs. 80 for 4 seater for 30 min Water cycle- Rs. 100/ person for 30 min Surfbike- Rs. 50/person for 15 min.

    
ANGLING

Angling was the favourite pastime of British tea planters. They set up a small hatchery at Chenduvarai a place in Munnar. Munnar has a High Range Anglers' Association from where one can obtain permission for this sport. Grab your rod and reel and head to the hill streams and rivers for a spot of fishing. This pleasant activity is one that even the youngest family members will enjoy. Fly fishing for trout is a viable option here and for more information speak to the tourist offices in town. The finest Trout fishing is done at Gravel banks, which is tucked in a remote corner of Nymakad Estate along the Eravikulam Park after the tourist zone.

    

HORSE RIDING

Horse Riding is a great sport for the whole family and the hills/valleys and bridle paths around Munnar offer some of the best horse riding countryside to be found anywhere. Not only is horse riding a great way to keep fit, but it also offers a wonderful viewing platform from which to survey the surrounding countryside. The Mattupatty Lake/Dam offers horses for hire as do a number of other areas closer to the city. Seasoned horseback riders and beginners alike will be able to enjoy the thrill of exploring nature on horseback while in Munnar.

    

ELEPHANT RIDE

Munnar is a good Place to do an Elephant ride. We can take ride on both road and Forest. But it is most fun to take ride on forest. If you like long-is drives trundle out to Thekkady about 100 Km or so from Munnar and you will be able to partake in this wonderfully pleasant pastime and sit astride one of the worlds largest animals, the gentle giants of the jungle, an elephant. Its an experience not to be missed and another that the whole family can enjoy.

    

TREKKING

Munnar is regarded as a trekking destination for travellers across the globe. Anamudi and Rajamala are a few of the ideal places for trekking. Palapetty to Champakad, Karimutty to Inchapetty, Karimutty to Alampetty, Valara (10 km from Adimali on the Kochi - Madurai highway)these are the trekking routs in munnar. Multilingual Guides can be hired in Munnar who can help in trekking to find safer and enjoyable routes. Tourists are allowed to go on foot up to Anamudi. This is also a place for adventure tourism.

    

CANOEING

Canoeing with all the water areas in and around Munnar there are numerous opportunities for this quiet sport. This is a good way to discover the local fauna and flora while you are about it too.
